The Boyfriend 12: Poor Little Pierrette
When one is sad, it is important to remember that one can forget. Our play resolves itself neatly and in the usual way. Polly and Tony are reunited, and the truths of their inheritances prove more charming than their lies of poverty. Those who are lonely are now merry, and those who were paupers are now lords. Everyone moves ahead in their lives but Hortense. The boys pull the girls downstage, Lord and Lady Brockhurst go up stage right onto the rostrum, Madam Dubonnet, Percival and Hortense go up stage left onto the rostrum, and Polly and Tony take center stage. A reprise is in order. Thunderous applause.
