The Boyfriend 11: It’s Never Too Late to Fall in Love
Tony enters stage left, frantic with love. If only poor Polly would just come to the ball, he could prove he really loves her. He makes his play to Hortense, who exits to see what she can do. Meanwhile stage right, Lord Brockhurst has been a good boy for far too long. She’s been eyeing him all night, that delicious young Dulcie. Or rather, he’s been eyeing her. He bangs on her hotel room door, threatening her to let him in. When she opens the door he will take what is his and what she wants him to take. She is fed up with boys anyway, he’s heard. Looking for something riper to feed on. The music is loud and the champagne drowns the night air. In the chaos of the evening no one would even remember she was gone.
